Are you passionate about learning and looking for an opportunity to contribute to radiology education? The Royal College of Radiology (RCR) Radiology Events and Learning (REAL) initiative promotes learning from anonymised errors, discrepancies and good spots in a safe environment without blame or shame. The impact of REAL has grown substantially, both in the UK and globally. Over more than a decade the REAL faculty has been dedicated to increasing awareness of common radiology challenges and pitfalls through real-life cases and expert targeted teaching.

We are welcoming interest from Radiology Trainees to join our REAL faculty. In this role, the REAL Faculty Trainee Member will work with experienced colleagues to help plan, review and deliver educational resources that foster continuous learning. We are looking to recruit several REAL Faculty Trainee Members as we grow the faculty.

The REAL Faculty Trainee Member will:

  • Contribute to the college and faculty’s professional development. 
  • Collaborate with and learn from Fellows, and partners based around the globe as the RCR develops its educational opportunities.  
  • Promote support, training and retention in our speciality.
  • Earn CPD credits for the development and delivery of learning activities.
  • Be able to use the title REAL Faculty Trainee Member.

What’s involved?

The REAL Faculty Trainee member is responsible for:

  • Assisting with review of submitted anonymised errors, good spots and other educational cases for publication.
  • Assisting the REAL faculty with preparation of quarterly REAL content for the RCR magazine (Wave), including reviewing submitted cases.
  • Supporting the faculty in identifying ways to encourage trainees to take a more active role in REAL.
  • Advocating and encouraging trainees to make submissions to REAL.
  • Attending the annual REAL Faculty meeting, either in person or online.
  • Working closely with the RCR Learning team and aligning with RCR’s strategic priorities.

Training on our CIMAR platform will be provided.
