REAL Faculty Medical Members
Are you enthusiastic about the Radiology Events and Learning (REAL) initiative for promoting learning from anonymised errors, discrepancies and good spots in a safe environment without blame or shame?
Over more than a decade the REAL Faculty has led this initiative, using real life educational cases and expert targeted teaching to improve awareness of common radiology pitfalls and how to avoid them. The impact of REAL has grown substantially both in the UK and globally.
We are welcoming interest for several vacancies within our REAL Faculty to join as Medical Members to support the next phase of its development. In this role, you will work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to help plan, review and deliver educational resources that foster continuous learning.

- Support your college and faculty’s professional development offering and help support training and retention for our specialism.
- Collaborate with and learn from Fellows, members and partners based around the globe as the RCR develops its educational offering.
- Earn CPD credits for the development and delivery of learning activities.
- Be able to use the title REAL Faculty Medical Member.
What’s involved?
The REAL Faculty Medical Members are responsible for REAL activities which include:
- Working closely with the RCR Learning team and aligning with RCR’s strategic priorities.
- Curating and editing the case submission in the quarterly RCR magazine.
- Reviewing submitted errors, educational cases, and good spots cases for anonymous publication as eLearning modules on RCR’s Learning Hub.
- Commissioning targeted teaching articles on key identified clinically important subjects where errors occur.
- Attending the annual REAL faculty meeting to discuss future REAL activities.
- Supporting individual REAL leads in trusts throughout the country with advice and guidance.
- Responding to REAL queries.
- Actively seeking opportunities to foster greater engagement.
- Supporting the programme development and speaker acquisition of the annual national REAL meeting (REALM) in collaboration with the RCR Learning Team who will lead on the operations and logistics of the event, and aligning with the growth strategy and financial sustainability of RCR Learning
- Representing REAL by giving talks and chairing sessions, in collaboration with the REAL Lead.
- Reviewing, updating, and promoting the RCR REALM standards document.
- Working with the RCR Learning team to develop REAL further as a leading global initiative.
