Equivalence Committee: Vacancies for members in both specialties

LEARN MORE

The CESR/Portfolio Pathway is an important route to the Specialist Register. The Equivalence Committee's purpose is to assess applications received under the CESR/Portfolio pathway route and send recommendations to the GMC regarding individual applications for Specialist Registration in radiology/oncology.
Are you interested in this very important role which involves ensuring that radiology and oncology departments are led by consultants who have all the necessary competences?

What's involved?

We are currently looking for new committee members in both radiology and oncology specialties. Equivalence Committee members determine whether or not each CESR/Portfolio Pathway applicant has the relevant knowledge, skills and experience (KSE) in their specialty and either recommend applicants for entry to the Specialist Register, or outline what more needs to be done to meet the KSE.

Equivalence Committee members receive support from the Workforce Development and Training team who provide guidance and administrative support to complete the recommendations. We would be looking for Committee members to review on average 1 application per month which is equivalent to 2 hours per application. Induction and training will be provided for the role.

A chance to be actively involved in ensuring the maintenance of high professional standards of the radiology/oncology workforce.

  • Directly contribute to increasing the pool of specialists while sharing good practice with colleagues.
  • Protecting patients' best interests.
  • Use of the learning experience to claim CPD points.
