Role description & responsibilities

The primary objectives of the IR Committee are to improve the training for, and raise awareness of, the professional issues relating to the practice of IR for the benefit of patients, by strengthening advocacy for and on behalf of the IR community. The Committee's focus is ensuring that training and education deliver an appropriately skilled workforce in sufficient numbers for the future. The IR Committee's terms of reference sets this out in more detail.

If you are interested in the future of IR training, workforce policy, and professional guidance this could be the role for you. The Interventional Radiology Committee allows you to feed into discussions on a wide range of issues affecting the IR community. Members will be expected to contribute to the practical work of the Committee. Most short-term work is done remotely by email.

All board and committee members will be required to declare any conflicts at the beginning of every meeting in accordance with the conflicts of interest policy.

The College has adapted to remote meetings, and these are likely to continue going forward. We intend to hold one face-to-face meeting per year, where possible. In addition, you will need to allow time to read papers in advance and potentially resolve issues by remote discussion between meetings. There may also be an opportunity to get involved in a short-term working party or project group, reporting to the Committee, from time to time.

Selection criteria and process

Applicants are asked to submit a short CV and a brief statement outlining their relevant experience and interests, and how these meet the attributes listed above.

Please submit your application to the Governance Assistant by 5pm on 12 July 2024.
