Auto-contouring in radiotherapy is a rapidly evolving area of innovation. This guidance has been developed to aid all healthcare professionals involved in the use of auto-contouring systems for radiotherapy treatment and explains the different stages of selection, implementation and ongoing monitoring of an auto-contouring system to support the safe clinical use of this new technology.

This guidance is endorsed by the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine’s Radiotherapy Special Interest Group (RT-SIG) and is part of a wider RCR initiative to provide education in AI, share expertise and experience of using AI in oncology and shape the future of AI in healthcare.
