Diagnostics and cancer care in the devolved nations
LEARN MOREClinical radiologists and clinical oncologists across the four nations of the United Kingdom are essential for the provision of swift and effective diagnosis and patient care. However, in each nation doctors in our two specialties face unique challenges and have their own unique achievements. While healthcare policy is a devolved matter, our influencing often focuses on the UK as a whole, meaning the specific issues that each nation faces can be under-recognised and underrepresented.
These policy briefings outline the state of diagnostics and cancer care in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. They summarise the current state of affairs, including key census statistics and NHS waiting times, and take account of each nation’s plans and policies. They also feature specific policy recommendations to the devolved administrations and the health services in each nation.
The briefings aim to raise the profile of radiology and oncology in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, and will be used going forward in our engagement with policymakers in Belfast, Edinburgh and Cardiff.
If you are an RCR member based in Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales, you can assist by sending the relevant briefing to your local representative(s) - both to your local MP as well as your representatives in Stormont, the Scottish Parliament or the Senedd.
For information about who your MP is, please use this UK Parliament website. If in Scotland, you can find your MSP here. If in Wales, you can find your MS here. If in Northern Ireland, you can find your MLA here.
