The Royal College of Radiologists responds to Lord Darzi’s Independent Investigation into the NHS in England

In response to Lord Darzi’s Independent Investigation into the NHS in England, Dr Katharine Halliday, President of the Royal College of Radiologists said:

“The Darzi report is a wake-up call to the immense challenges facing the NHS, largely due to years of underinvestment. Having contributed to this vital review, we commend Lord Darzi’s dedication and welcome the report’s focus on these pressing issues.

“It rightly calls for boosting diagnostic capacity and speeding up access to care, particularly for cancer patients. But long-term success hinges on sustained investment in clinical radiologists and oncologists to ensure faster, more accurate diagnoses.

“We welcome this honest diagnosis of our health service and stand ready to work with all partners to improve the prognosis. Staff are the beating heart of the health service, and their voices must remain central to all decision-making, as we work together to restore the NHS to full health.”
