New publication launched: Major adult trauma radiology guidance

We are pleased to announce the publication of: Major adult trauma radiology guidance

This document is an update of the previous guidance: Standards of practice and guidance for trauma radiology in severely injured patients Second edition which it replaces.

This guidance is intended to outline good practice for the provision of trauma radiology to severely injured patients covering appropriate imaging modality choice, imaging protocols, special considerations and quality indicators in both imaging and reporting.

Working Group Chair, Christopher McLeavy said: “The guidance is intended to be practical and easy to follow whist still allowing local modification. We very much hope that it will support major trauma centres and trauma units to review and improve their diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology provision for severely injured adult patients.”

The RCR extends its gratitude to Christopher McLeavy and the rest of the working group for leading on this publication.
