Event overview

Course leads:

  • Dr Rachel Magennis
  • Dr Emma Owens
  • Dr Ram Chittal

Following the well-received and sold-out previous conferences in Cambridge, Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh and Bristol, we continue to bring our REAL conference to areas around the UK.

At this year’s REAL conference entitled ‘The Power of Kindness’, we will learn from challenges and pitfalls across multiple radiology subspecialities. In doing so, we are reminded of the profound impact these experiences can have, not only on patient care, but also on the staff involved. In light of the increasing rates of burnout, it is vital that we not only address how to reduce errors and learn from them, but also focus on the importance of support systems amongst our colleagues. We are delighted that keynote speakers Dr Brian Goldman and Professor Christina Maslach will share their expertise in these areas.

We invite delegate questions for a panel discussion to address the common themes and challenges in delivering REALM, with reference to the new standards.

In a dedicated session, we will enjoy REALM related presentations from resident doctors, promoting early engagement in REAL and fostering future leaders.

This conference aims to promote learning, to support the smooth running of REAL and to encourage meaningful conversations about the emotional and psychological toll of error and the support strategies to ensure radiologists thrive in their careers.

13 CPD points will be awarded on completion of this course.
