4th Annual RCR / BSPR Study Day: Radiological features of acute GI/GU presentations in children

Building on the success of our previous courses, we’re delighted to announce the fourth annual joint Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) and British Society of Paediatric Radiology (BSPR) study day 2025.

The radiological assessment of acute intrabdominal pathology in children can be challenging, and a timely diagnosis is often required. This one-day virtual course provides a comprehensive overview of the major pathology a paediatric radiologists or radiologist with an interest in paediatrics will see in routine practice, including practical tips to reach a prompt diagnosis.

5 CPD points will be awarded on completion of this course. Please note this event will not be available to view on-demand post event.

encompassing GI (including pancreatic and hepatobilliary) and GU tracts.

RCR consultant Fellows and members: Consultants with an active RCR membership.

RCR member trainees: This applies to trainees with an active RCR membership Allied healthcare professionals (AHP): This applies to AHPs who will not have an RCR membership, including, radiographers, physicists, SHOs, SAS doctors and medical students.

Non-member consultants: Consultants who don't have an active RCR membership.

Non-member trainees: Trainees who don't have an active RCR membership.

Lower middle income country registration: A reduced registration fee is available for those who reside in and working in a lower or middle income country (LMIC) as defined by the World Bank. These rates do not apply if you are originally from one of these countries but are now practising elsewhere.

Speaker faculty

Dr Williams graduated from The University of Brighton and Sussex Medical School in 2008, completing radiology training based at St George’s University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, London. Higher paediatric radiology training included Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Evelina Hospital, London.

Dr Williams was appointed as a Consultant Paediatric Radiologist at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, London 2017, becoming lead for paediatric imaging in 2018.

Currently Dr Williams is the training representative for the British Society of Paediatric Radiology and is both an educational and clinical supervisor for radiology training and paediatric radiology imaging. Dr Williams has held the position of paediatric representative for professional learning and development at the Royal College of Radiology since 2020.

Dr Oates has been a Consultant Paediatric Radiologist at Birmingham Children’s Hospital since January 2012 after training at the West Yorkshire Radiology Academy, Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada and Val D’ Hebron Hospital, Barcelona, Spain. His main professional interest is imaging in suspected physical abuse and encompassing both body and neuro components and has been providing expert testimony to the Family and Criminal courts since 2017. He has published widely in this area and has been working closely with the Family Courts to encourage more radiologist to take up this role.
