The Du Boulay Professorship

The Du Boulay Professorship is a fantastic opportunity to promote and support neuoradiology as a subspecialty and research within neuroradiology and related fields, and is a joint venture between the Royal College of Radiologists and the British Society of Neuroradiologists.

Background

This visiting Professorship is jointly funded by the RCR and British Society of Neuroradiologists, (BSNR) to highlight the role of neuroradiology within the UK. The Professorship is named in memory of Professor George Du Boulay who was a pioneering academic neuroradiologist and a founding member of the Society.

Nature

The visiting professor will be expected to undertake 6-8 visits to training programmes, over a period of 12 months (or 24 months if the professorship is awarded jointly to two recipients), to deliver lectures and undertake appropriate workshops or small group teaching as part of each visit. One lecture will be recorded and made available online, which can be delivered as a webinar.

The purpose of the visits is educational: to raise the profile of neuroradiology amongst trainees, to highlight the rewards of a career in neuroradiology (particularly academic neuroradiology careers), and to foster high quality neuroradiology practice and research throughout the UK. Applications are invited from experienced neuroradiologists who can provide valuable insights into cutting-edge neuroradiology practice as well as those who have a particular field of expertise or academic research.

At the end of the professorship, the successful candidate(s) will be required to deliver present on their activities as du Boulay Professor at the next BSNR annual scientific meeting.

Funding

Up to £3,000 to cover expenses (per year).

Eligibility

The professorship is open to neuroradiologists who are Fellows of the RCR in good standing, members of the BSNR, resident in the United Kingdom and in active clinical practice at the time of the application and the award/visits.
