Fellowship Examination Board (Clinical Radiology)
The Board is comprised of the Medical Director for Education and Training, the Chair of the First FRCR Examination Committee (Physics), the Chair of the First FRCR Examination Committee (Anatomy), the Chair of the Final FRCR (Part A) Examination Committee, four examiners from the Final FRCR Examination Board, the Executive Director, Education & Professional Practice, the Head of Exams and a lay representative. All members are expected to have experience and an interest in clinical radiology training and assessment.

Terms of reference
Responsibilities
The Board is responsible for ensuring that the all components of the FRCR examination provide an appropriate assessment of the knowledge, skills and some of the behaviours required to complete Core Clinical Radiology Training as defined in the syllabus section of the Specialty Training Curriculum for Clinical Radiology. The Board ensures that the examination meets the GMC's "Standards for curricula and assessment systems".
Functions
- Ensuring that the First and Final FRCR examinations are appropriate assessments of clinical radiology specialty trainees' knowledge and skills in line with the clinical radiology curriculum as approved by the GMC
- Ensuring that the examinations comply with the standards for assessment required by the GMC
- Reviewing the performance of examinations to ensure that they meet the standards expected, identifying any shortcomings and making recommendations for the future
- Ensuring that the Boards/Committees responsible for individual components of the fellowship have procedures in place to review examination results, performance of questions and performance of examiners
- Reviewing the pattern of performance of the examination over time to ensure standards are maintained and identifying areas for improvement
- Developing the examination to ensure that it remains relevant to the curriculum and to clinical practice. This may include recommending the removal or addition of components; changes to content; adjustment to standard setting and marking schemes.
- Commissioning work from and overseeing the work of the First FRCR Examination Committee (Physics), the First FRCR Examination Committee (Anatomy), the Final FRCR (Part A) Examination Committee and the Final FRCR (Part B) Examination Board
- Ensuring that appropriate regulations and policies are in place for the operation of the examination, including: complaints and appeals; adjustments for disability; equality and diversity; conduct and probity of candidates and examiners
- Ensuring that all examiners are appropriately trained, carry out their duties as an examiner appropriately and receive feedback on their performance
- Contributing to the Quality Assurance of training, specifically through the Annual Specialty Report to the GMC
- Making recommendations for research and development including seeking feedback from trainees on the conduct of the examination
- Being responsible for the appointment of new examiners
- Making recommendations to STB on the appointment of Chairs of the individual Boards/Committees
- Undertaking other activities relevant to the remit of the Examination Board as required by the Warden of the Faculty of Clinical Radiology
