Final FRCR (Part A) Examination Committee (Clinical Oncology)
The SBA Question Panel reports to the Clinical Oncology Fellowship Examination Board through the Panel Chair who is currently Dr Clare Crowley and Deputy Chair Dr Christina Wilson. At any time there will be a minimum of 12 panel members, plus the Final FRCR (Part B) Chair and Senior Examiner as co-opted members. Two panel members act as Vice Chairs.
New examiners are appointed by Clinical Oncology Fellowship Examination Board, taking into account the recommendation of the SBA Question Panel. Vice Chairs are also appointed by the Fellowship Examination Board following recommendation by the SBQ Question Panel Chair. The Chair is appointed by the Specialty Training Board, taking into consideration the recommendation of the Clinical Oncology Fellowship Examination Board.

Responsibilities
The SBA Question Panel is responsible for ensuring that the Final FRCR (Part A) written examination provides an appropriate assessment of the knowledge required to complete Intermediate Clinical Oncology Training as defined in the syllabus section of the Specialty Training Curriculum For Clinical Oncology. The Panel ensures that the examination meets the GMC's "Standards for curricula and assessment systems".
Functions
- Reviewing the performance of individual examinations to ensure that they meet the standards expected, identifying any shortcomings and making recommendations for the future.
- Reviewing the pattern of performance of the examination over time to ensure standards are maintained and identifying areas for improvement.
- Writing, reviewing and editing SBA questions, ensuring that they are based on the approved curriculum.
- Selecting questions for and reviewing and agreeing the Final FRCR (Part A) written examination papers.
